HCMC traffic:
I'm going to talk about HCMC traffic today.
Before i left for HCMC, jeff had warned me how horrifying the traffic is.
He even showed me a youtube clip on how the traffic is like.
There was a school kid in the video, and he was playing by the side of the road, just where all the vehicles were passing by.
and when he was trying to cross the road, he didn't care how many vechicles there were and just slowly stroll through the heavy traffic. haha!
truely amazed! 0_0!
when we arrived in HCMC,
the traffic was how i was expecting it to be.
90% motorbikes and only 10% cars.
even people in office wear or formal wear with suits, are riding a motorbike.
And probably people there are so afraid of getting too tanned, they actually wore jackets and jeans when they're riding, despite the very warm weather.
the one way road could easily be turned into a two way road, since the traffic regulations there are quite bad.
but despite the bad traffic regulations, there ain't much accidents as all the vechicles travel at quite a slow speed due to the very heavy traffic.
crossing the road at HCMC is rather scary, BUT easy.
the motorbikes will look out for you.
you just have to slowly walk across, stop a little here and there, and you can get to the opposite.
you will get used to it after a few attempts.
getting around by Taxi is pretty cool. because it's very affordable!
but there's only 2-3 kinds of taxi we take when we are in HCMC,
because the rest are scam.
it's either they don't use a taxi meter to charge, or their meter would jump very quickly(cost you a lot more).
so we only use Vinasun or MaiLinh taxi.
the starting fare is only around VND10,000 ($0.80)!
and getting to places near our hotel, maybe 10-15mins ride, would cost us only $1-2.
and getting to the airport , around 45mins ride, is around $8-9.
